Emily & Ben

Yes it's true, it's almost unbelievable I know, but Emily & Ben are acutally getting married, YAY! Well this actually assumes that (a) Emily doesn't change her mind and (b) Ben survives the stag do. Anyway, if you're reading this you're probably coming so that's bloody brilliant, we can't wait to have you there. xx

PS - don't forget to leave plenty of time to get to the church as hordes of mourning girls can play havoc with traffic.

STUFF FOR THE DAY

  • Get a train to Stoke-on-Trent, it takes 1.24hr from Euston and the Best Western is a 5min cab ride from the station. There are buses to get you to and from the venue on the day. If yon are driving, come off the M6 at junction 16 and follow the line of girls. Leave your car at the Best Western if you can and jump on the bus.
  • 1pm - meet at the best western to catch the party bus with all the cool kids. Shotgun backseat!
  • 1.20pm (sharp) - BUSES LEAVE THE BEST WESTERN
  • 2pm - Service at St Chad's Church, Longsdon, Staffordshire, ST9 9QF (parking available here and at the venue if you need. Best to take the party bus though if you can).
  • 3pm - Dunwood hall (Ben's family's home): Dunwood Hall, Longsdon, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ST9 9AR
  • 12am Buses will take you from the venue back to the Best Western in Stoke. If you are staying elsewhere there are Taxis in the area: Telitaxis - 01538 713175 | A 2 B Private Hire - 01538 382100 | Taxico - 01538 387777 | Leek Link Taxis - 01538 399999

  • 1pm Hop on the Party Bus from the Best Western
  • 2pm Here comes the bride ("eer kims tha brid" if you're part of the scottish contingent)
  • 3pm Drinks at the hall
  • 5pm Mini Céilidh
  • 5.30pm Dinner
  • 7pm Dancing with Plastic Pantomime
  • 12pm Coaches

staying over

Look for hotels in Stoke or Leek. We'll be staying at the Best Western in Stoke where there are rooms reserved with a special rate.
  • Best Western Plus, Mote House, Stoke: We will be staying here and recommend you do too. It's pretty decent. There is a special rate for the wedding available until 8th May of £79.20, just quote the code: BART200614.
  • White Lion Hotel Well regarded hotel again in leek so closer to the venue than the BW in Stoke. Gets a good tripadvisor rating. Delphine (my cousin) recommends.
  • Rudyard Hotel, Leek: Not a bad hotel. It's in Leek so closer to the venue. Delphine tells me the White Lion above is better though.
  • George Hotel, Burslem: Decent enough option if you can't do the above.
  • Quality Hotel, Stoke Fairly close, looks terrible to me but I'm running out of options, this is Stoke on Trent.

other bits

  • Kids: We'd prefer it if you left the wee ones at home but we know that can be a problem so give us a shout if you'd like to bring them along and we'll make arrangements.
  • Dress: Yes, Tony, you need to wear clothes.
  • Gifts: Emily is saving up for a calculator as she's struggling to divide the number 120 by two. Donations to this worthy cause are accepted in the form of Maths tuition, calculators or larger wedding venues, as you see fit. In seriousness though, you don't need to bring a gift, but if you're in a generous mood see here.
